WELCOME

This is the site of Anglican Renewal Ministries Wales. It's still being constructed so let us know if something isn't working or to suggest improvements.
Why not visit the site regularly to see the new, updated and improved content.
We are grateful to Revd Michael Komor for his help, advice and encouragement in setting up this web site.

Our Name

If you are a Welsh speaker you will have noticed that 'Adnewyddiad Eglwyswyr Cymru' does not translate as 'Anglican Renewal Ministries Wales'.
It's too complicated to go  into the history of this discrepancy. But here is the actual translation: 'Renewal of the Welsh Church'. That does properly reflect the fact that we are not an exclusively Anglican organisation but embrace all traditions. Remember 'Church' refers to the people and not the building, so we're talking about individuals and the corporate body.
If you're wondering about the term renewal click the link to see what it means biblically.

Who are we and what do we do?

Flames of Fire Conference

Most people know ARM Wales as the organisation who used to run the annual Flames of Fire Holiday Conference at Builth Wells. In fact the very first meeting was held at Cefn Lea near Newtown in 1992 and was called ARM Wales Conference. It wasn't until 1995 that it moved to Builth and called Fanning the Flame. The name changed to Flames of Fire in 1996. Over the years the conference became increasingly popular and we began to feel it was becoming too much of a burden on the few people who organised it and so New Wine Cymru was invited to take it over. They ran the conference in 2008 and 2009 when financial issues forced them to stop.

Our present role

  • We have published a magazine since 1993 and we now produce three issues a year. Go to the Magazine page and have a look at some past editions.
  • We provide bursaries for the benefit of individuals on courses based in churches and institutions engaged in charismatic, Christian renewal or evangelism. Alternatively individuals may be working voluntarily in organisations operating in these fields. If you're interested then view A guide for Applicants in English or Welsh.
  • We also provide grants to individuals and organisations as appropriate.
  • We organise retreats and conferences.
  • We encourage and support others to host renewal events.

A Thought
'One can believe in God with a very complete set of arguments, yet not have any faith that makes a difference in living.
Georgia Harkness (1891-1974)
'A diamond cannot be polished without friction, and a person can't be perfected without trials.'
An old Chinese proverb
